CAUSE Internship
What is LINK 2.0?
Similar to LINK, LINK 2.0 is an optional course for seniors at Animas High School to take. Traditionally, it's a part time internship any given senior takes on during their senior year and you can receive internship experience along with school credits. I completed LINK 2.0 during my summer going into senior year because I had a good opportunity to complete it then.
What is the CAUSE Internship?
(C)reating (A)nd (U)tilizing (S)ocial-media (E)xperiences is a paid internship where students learn about marketing and entrepreneurial career paths while creating connections in the community and marketing for non-profits.
My Non-Profit Organization (NPO)For LINK 2.0 and the CAUSE Internship I partnered with San Juan Citizens Alliance (SCJA). Their mission statement is: We advocate for clean air, pure water and healthy lands and wildlife - the foundations of resilient communities, ecosystems and economies the San Juan Basin.
When I first met with my mentor, despite a pretty good social media presence, she told me they wanted to incorporate more reels and stories into their everyday posting. I have some previous experience in video editing and social media managing so I was really excited for this. I ended up creating two reels throughout my time here: the first one was about abandoned oil wells in the four corners area and the second one was a more light-hearted lifestyle video to remind everyone what our real mission is. I also created a series of infographics about hydrogen energy and the pros and cons of it. |
